“The role of today’s combat sniper is far from the romantic lone-wolf Rambo of popular imagination. Using the first-hand accounts of some of Canada’s top snipers, the authors lay out the realities. The gear, training, excruciating patience, and mental toughness typical of the profession are amply explored, then displayed in adrenaline-pumping scenes of actual combat.

Spoiler alert: It’s not all glory. The general public as well as history and military buffs will get much from this book.”

- Jim DeFelice, co-author NY Times #1 best-seller, American Sniper

“A rare look inside the secretive and little understood world of Canada's military sniper community. Within the world of Special Operations the Canadians are known to field absolutely top notch snipers, maybe the best in the world, and Send It takes the reader on their journey through training and combat, putting them right behind a .338 sniper rifle as the trigger breaks.”

-Jack Murphy, former Ranger and Green Beret, and host of the Team House podcast.

Send It is as honest as it is gripping. The authors don’t write to glorify themselves or their trade—they write to tell the truth. From the opening pages, where they reflect on the strength and sacrifice of military families, the tone is set: this is a book about reality, not myth.

The team blends technical insight with human storytelling in a way that few military books achieve. They show how Canadian sniper capabilities evolved over time, grounding readers with examples of “cutting-edge” equipment of the past before revealing how quickly technology leapt ahead. They dispel common assumptions about long-range weapons and don’t shy away from describing the toll this work takes on the body—TBI, retinal damage, and more.

The narratives of operations are where the book shines. The writing is calm and precise, building tension without theatrics. It captures what it felt like to live and fight in Afghanistan: the ever-watchful locals, the taste of fear, and the constant knowledge that even elite professionals carry their humanity into battle.

In a world where Hollywood often glamorizes or distorts the reality of war, Send It is refreshingly grounded. It is respectful of the profession, unflinching about its costs, and deeply human.

A must-read for anyone who wants an authentic picture of Canadian snipers in Afghanistan. Technical, raw, and full of heart, Send It is a testament to the men who served, the families who supported them, and the reality behind the rifle.

As someone with absolutely no military background this struck the perfect balance between technical details and rapt storytelling. Forget the Hollywood blockbuster sniper, this is an evocative, eye opening read about the everything before and after the pull of the trigger. A must read.

I bought it this past Friday and found it so engaging, well-written, and such a powerful read that I started and finished it in its entirety over the weekend. There are no superlatives that I can use to describe how good this book is.

Send It is an outstanding and powerful book that captures the reality of Canada’s snipers in Afghanistan with authenticity and depth. Nisbet and Cullen take readers inside the world of Canada's Snipers, from the grueling selection and training process to the unforgiving realities of combat.

What struck me most is how the book puts you as close to the action as I would ever want to be (I have no miliatry training). The storytelling is as vivid and cinematic as I can imagine, yet it never drifts into fiction. Instead, it underscores the fact that these are real experiences, told with honesty and respect. The stories are as heartfelt and genuine as I would ever want to read, and that balance between intensity and authenticity makes the book truly stand out.

This is a reminder of the courage, professionalism, and sacrifice of Canada’s soldiers. My thanks to the authors and to the men and women who have served for their dedication and service to our country.

I highly recommend reading Send It and especially enjoyed "U.S.Eh"
